PEEL AND STICK DECALS
APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
PRODUCT INFORMATION AND APPLICATION FOR VINYL DECALS
- Make sure your surface is clean and dust-free.
- These decals will stick onto any smooth surface (walls, windows, mirrors, as long as it is smooth)
- Make sure the paint on your wall is water-based, your decals will not stick on any surface that is oil or silicone based.
- Your paint needs to be MATT water-based paint, or semi-sheen paint. No high sheen or enamel paint will work with our decals
- Wait at least four days after painting your wall before applying your decals.
- Your ideal temperature to apply decals is 23 degrees Celsius. Your walls expand and contract with the weather so if they are not applied in the ideal temperature you may have to keep pushing them down for a few weeks until they settle. If your edges begin lifting slightly, please hold a blow-dryer or heat gun around 20cm-30cm away from your decal and push it down gently. This will help the decal mould and makes it more flexible.
- Cut out your shapes before sticking them down and plan your layout on your wall by sticking them on with Prestik, painters tape or masking tape.
- Peel the backing paper off your decal so that the sticky side is exposed and stick it onto your wall. You can scrap it down with an applicator which is available online here: Application Tools Archives – Kikki & Franki (kikkiandfranki.co.za) Or a credit card, ruler, or anything with a flat surface. Our decals are anti-scratch, so no need to worry about scratching them.
We use high-quality vinyl. Your decals will easily last you at least 5 years if you take good care of them.

- Peel the backing paper off of your decal so that the front is still attached to your application paper and the sticky side is exposed.
- Line up your decal from the top corners. Take an applicator or a credit card (anything with a flat, straight surface) and begin scraping down and outwards to rid of any air bubbles. You can purchase a decal applicator online here: Application Tools Archives – Kikki & Franki (kikkiandfranki.co.za) Our decals are anti-scratch, so no need to worry about scratching them.
- Once your decal is stuck down, peel the application tape off parallel to your surface. If you pull the application tape off by pulling it towards you, you will end up pulling your decal off the wall.

- Your surface does not have to be completely smooth.
- Plan your layout on your wall first.
- Apply your choice of sticking medium to the back of your wooden cut-out. And simply stick it. Make sure you apply enough medium.
- You can apply it to any surface (e.g.: Plastered wall, raw brick wall, window, mirror, a piece of furniture…)
Wallpaper Application
WALLPAPER
PRODUCT INFORMATION AND APPLICATION FOR VINYL DECALS
Your wallpaper will have a 2-3cm overlap on each panel. Your wallpaper panels won’t align “butt-to-butt”. The overlap method is a more effective way to apply wallpaper because of the expansion and contraction of the walls. The expansion and contraction of the walls is due to the change of temperature from season to season or temperature dropping during the evenings. Sometimes when it gets really hot and the wall expands, it tends to leave a millimeter or two between the panels if they are aligned “butt-to-butt”. This is unpleasant to the eye.
- Prepare the wall: The wall surface should be clean, dry, structurally sound and free of mildew, grease, water damage or other stains, and free of irregularities in order to achieve the best hanging performance and complete removal when redecorating.
- To apply on drywall. For best results, apply to a wall surface that has been painted with one coat of builder’s primer and one coat of paint (note: this is typical of new construction; a wall surface that has been painted with a single coat of primer or a coat of satin or gloss paint is acceptable). The wall surface should be clean, smooth, and free of debris or contaminants.
- Follow these step-by-step instructions
- Your wallpaper panels will be numbered from left to right.
- Loosely roll the printed wallpaper with the printed side facing in.
- Work from the top left-hand corner of your wall when facing the wall.
- Place a level ruler on your wall vertically and draw a pencil line straight down the wall. This will ensure your panel is straight even if your wall isn’t 100% straight.
- Line your panel up on the pencil line and tape down with some painter’s tape or masking tape.
- Place the wallpaper 5-10cm over the top onto the roof in case the structure is slightly skew or off, this will allow leeway to line up all panels perfectly without a gap on the top or bottom.
- Peel off the backing paper about 30cm from the top
- Squeegee the wallpaper on section by section whilst peeling off the backing paper and removing the painters/masking tape as you move down the wall.
Line up your 2nd panel with the same above method including the painters/masking tape and repeat the above steps until your wall is complete.
HOW TO WORK OUT HOW MUCH WALLPAPER YOU WILL NEED:
- Get the measurement of the width of your wall from left to right in metres and divide it by 0.58. Round up your answer to the next whole number.
For example, if your wall is 3.5m in width then do the following:
3.5m / 0.60 = 5,83
Round up 5,83 to the next whole number, which will be 6.
6 is the number of panels you will need for your wall, each panel will have a 2cm overlap to avoid white gaps between the panels at a later stage. This happens because of the expansion and contraction of the wall with hot and cold weather.
- Get the measurement of the height of your wall from bottom to top in metres.
(This measurement should exclude your skirting and/or your cornice if you have any). Then take your measurement and add 10cm for your overflow.
For example, if your wall is 2.4m in height, add 10cm to make it 2.5m.
You will then multiply 2.5m by the number of panels you previously worked out. In this case, your number of panels is 6.
2.5m x 6= 15m
You will need 15m of wallpaper. We sell our wallpaper panels in 3m runs. You will need to divide your answer by 3. In this case you need 15m so you will do the following:
15/3=5
By the quantity below, you will need to add 5 to your cart.
If your final answer is not a whole number please make sure you round up to the next whole number. For example, you your final numer of panels is 5.43m, please round up to 6m in your quantity.
IRON-ON Labels
IRON-ON Labels
PRODUCT INFORMATION AND APPLICATION FOR VINYL DECALS
Before You Get Started:
- Check Fabric Compatibility:
- Look at the care label on your fabric to see if it can handle high temperatures.
- Delicate fabrics like silk, satin, and wool, or those with low melting points like nylons, vinyl, and leathers, are not suitable for this product.
- Fabric Texture:
- Iron-on labels may not stick well to textured or very stretchy fabrics like canvas or Lycra.
- Preparation:
- Wash and iron your garment/fabric before applying the labels.
- Have silicone parchment paper or unwaxed baking paper ready; it’s essential for the application process. Never iron directly on the labels!
- Iron Settings:
- All IRONS ARE DIFFERENT. Start with medium heat and only increase if necessary, ensuring your fabric can tolerate the higher temperature.
How to apply iron on name labels?
- Heat the Iron:
- Set your iron to medium/high heat and turn off the steam. Let it fully heat up.
- Prepare the Garment:
- Lay your garment flat on an ironing board, ensuring the area for the label is smooth and wrinkle-free.
- Apply the Label:
- Remove the plastic backing from the label.
- Place the label adhesive side down on the garment.
- Cover with a sheet of parchment or unwaxed baking paper (not a tea towel or cloth).
- Iron the Label:
- Using a circular motion, press the iron on the parchment paper for 10-15 seconds.
- Check the edges. If they haven’t fully adhered, iron for another 5 seconds. Be careful not to burn or discolour the fabric.
- Post-Application Care:
- Don’t wash the garment for 24 hours to let the adhesive cure. The special adhesive used on our iron-on name labels continues to cure after it has been applied.
- The labels are washing machine and tumble dryer safe. For best results, wash at 30°C or lower and tumble dry on low heat.
- If the label starts to lift after multiple washes, cover it with parchment paper and iron again to reactivate the adhesive.
Happy labelling. 😊
